He is scowling slightly and has one eyebrow raised and one drawn close. Gerard is wearing a Prussian blue military coat from the 1780s with dark grey trim, including the little fiddly bits of trim that go all the away across the coat to act as buttons; under the coat he wears a charcoal-grey stock. Aldo's portrait has a pale green background, and Gerard's a pale blue one.
